XXIII Marxa Gràcia – Montserrat
Marxa Gràcia — Montserrat is an annual endurance hike from the Gràcia neighborhood in Barcelona to the Montserrat monastery. When I signed up for the hike I had no idea if I could at all walk the 63km.
Catalunya is the north eastern region of Spain, with both climate and terrain that is ideal for hiking and running. Bordering the Pyrenees in the north, there are plenty of interesting summer hikes. Further south there are a number of lower peaks and natural areas for hiking all year round. In Barcelona and surroundings there are plenty of running races throughout the year, both on asphalt and mountain trails.

A 5 hour hike to several peaks along the border between Spain and France, starting and terminating in Vall de Núria — crossing various peaks between Pic de Noufonts and Pic de Núria.
It was 6:59:59 AM in the quiet Pyrenees town of Ribes de Freser. The soothing sounds of the River Freser flowed through the town — accompanied with an occasional tweet from an insomniac night owl typing fervidly on their smart phone. Suddenly the tranquility of countryside was disturbed by the crowing of a rooster.
A 6 hour hike back and forth between the town Ribes de Freser in the Catalan Pyrenees to the summit of Taga (2038m). The track is technically easy but is steep at times.
We started our hike at the Sant Marti Centelles train station heading for an easy four hour hike with ruins and donkeys. It turned out to be longer than expected.
A return hike from Campdevànol to Sant Julià de Saltor. The hike included an extended detour due to presumed tricking by cows or humans.
A nice and easy hike from the town Campdevànol in the Catalan pre-pyrenees to the the church called Església de Sant Pere d’Aüira.
A 16k running race through the Collserola hills north of Barcelona, Spain. My first ever hilly race away from the city asphalt.
A hike up to four peaks called Puigmal in the Pyrenees on the border between Spain and France. The hike started and finished by the French ski resort Puigmal de l’Err.
A 10k running race on the Formula1 race track Circuit de Catalunya. What can be better motivation for improving your speed than be in a surrounding that reminds one of fast cars.
